Blog Sweet Blog Part 2.5 - Shelf Help

Dan Carpenter lifted the mug to his lips and took another sip of tea. He tried to ignore the blog’s branding on the mug. It was on everything he’d found in the kitchen. Blank Page mugs. Blank Page plates. Blank Page cereal. Blank Page teabags. The Blank Page sink un-blocker had been a surprise.

Please Note - This is the second and a half part of the ongoing social experiment Blog Sweet Blog. There have been two whole parts before this one, neither of which were ever aware they could’ve been split into fractions when they were being written.

Just think how every future part of Blog Sweet Blog will feel from now on. Who can say how many of them will ever arrive a whole? It’s not easy, being a blog.

You could say it’s a blog’s life.

(But we wouldn’t recommend it.)

Music of the Fears

You might remember, the other week, that I mentioned setting up a sort of required reading list for the new novel.  Who am I kidding?  Of course you remember.  They’re putting up the blue plaque outside my window to commemorate the anniversary of me writing it.  I was talking about how I was looking for particular things to read and watch.  I was listening to a lot of horror scores.  I was basically chasing some sense memory of the novel I’ve got growing in my head.  Or I was sense checking that it didn’t already exist.

The Old Man and The Cinema

I’ve always loved the cinema.  It started with the first movie I ever went to see.  My dad took me to the grand old, art deco Odeon that used to sit in central Leicester to watch the newly re-issued Jungle Book.  It blew me away.  The deep reaching perspective of Kipling’s jungle in the credits.  The moody atmosphere that seemed to lurk in the opening few scenes and the sheer, wild delight that took its place until a certain tiger cornered a boy amongst dying trees, the flames spread and I was made to believe a heroic slob of a bear had died.
